The stunning beauty of Tajikistan is best seen in the mountains of the north, in the Taraskhen region, and in the center of Asia. When I was on my last trip to Tajikistan, I was invited to be part of an all-inclusive trip to Nu’mon Roziq. This remote mountain resort has become a popular destination for first-time travelers to Tajikistan.
Tajikistan’s unity is truly remarkable. Every district in the country, whether it is in Tajikistan or the adjoining areas, has its own cultural significance and historical background to the rest of the world. It is easy to see why many foreign tourists and even some locals seek to enjoy the rich cultural history and wildlife in Tajikistan. And one of the best ways to see and experience all of this is by traveling through the Pamir Mountains.
One of the most striking aspects of this mountain range is its remoteness. For those who plan to spend time in Tajikistan, a stay in one of the many rustic villages of Nu’mon Roziq is the ideal choice. The people of the village are friendly and welcoming and make for a lovely stay. The local bus service makes sure that you do not have to worry about transportation during your visit; in fact, the most commonly sought after transportation option is horseback riding. For the more adventurous traveler, hiking and biking through the mountains is an option to consider.
Another nearby attraction is the Pamir National Park. A small mountain of about 16 kilometers in length, it is the largest national park in Tajikistan. The park is home to a diverse array of wildlife including a wide variety of migratory birds. If you want to get up close and personal with a Tajikian tiger, the park is the right place to go. In addition to the tigers, however, the park is also home to an abundant of wildlife such as wild reindeer, foxes, and a variety of other rodents, as well as many endangered species.
It is important to note that while the Tajik culture is prevalent throughout Nu’mon Roziq, the main focus is on farming. Thus, while you are visiting the town, it is important to make sure that you do not drink or sell any alcohol at the local pubs or restaurants. You may, however, enjoy some delicious local food and take a taxi from your hotel to the countryside to enjoy a dinner in one of the many rustic local houses.
Finally, before leaving for Tajikistan you will need to get a visa. Many tourists do this before their trip, but it can be difficult to find a visa in a country that lacks a centralized government. If you do find a local company to provide you with a visa, it is important to ensure that it is valid before travelling. This is one of the few countries in the world that does not require you to have a visa in order to enter the country for tourism purposes. Therefore, planning your trip to Nu’mon is highly recommended.
